At the center, a red core fuses the imagery of an atomic nucleus with the red sun which appears on the Japanese flag. From this core, two shades of blue suggest both the precision of electron orbits and energy radiating outward like waves. The intertwined blue trajectories symbolize collaboration between Toyo Tanso and the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), using Toyo Tansoʼ s brand color Earth Blue alongside JAEAʼ s brand blue. The overall silhouette forms a “G” for Graphite. The composition also draws inspiration from Katsushika Hokusaiʼ s The Great Wave off Kanagawa, part of the series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. We hope this symposium will mark a meaningful step toward the safe and forward-looking advancement of nuclear energy.

Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) is one of Japanʼ s most renowned ukiyo-e artists,
celebrated for his innovative compositions and lasting influence across Eastern and
Western art.
Among his most iconic works, The Great Wave off Kanagawa (from Thirty-Six Views of
Mount Fuji) captures the powerful dynamism of nature in the cresting wave, contrasted
with the steady presence of Mount Fuji in the distance.
